About Us
Jabez House is a one-of-a-kind organization in Barbados, dedicated to facilitating the transition process of female sex workers from the trade, via access to alternative economic empowerment opportunities. Since July 2012, we have reached over 850 women, with scores leaving the trade and leading sustainable livelihoods away from sex work. We believe every woman deserves a path forward, which is why everything we offer is provided completely free of cost, removing the barriers that so often stand between vulnerable women and real, lasting change.
Our programmes are built around the whole person. From vocational training in cosmetology, nail technology, and hairdressing, to entrepreneurship development, individual and group counselling, mentorship, and street outreach for sexual and reproductive health services, we walk alongside our clients every step of the way. When the basics are lacking, we step in with food baskets, hygiene products, medical assistance, and temporary housing. And because our clients are mothers and community members, our care extends to their children too, providing school supplies and essential support, so that the cycle of vulnerability doesn’t pass to the next generation.
